The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Core Pillars
Scout Oath: Focuses on duty to God and country, helping others, and staying physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law: Teaches 12 personal traits including being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Vision Statement: Prepares every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader guided by these values.
All Scouting America programs are open to boys and girls giving all youth access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises. The structure of Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA (AKA Boy Scouts) and Ventures allows the whole family to experience all of the great benefits of the Scout Programs.
In Shalimar we have 4 family oriented units (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA boys, Scouts BSA girls and Ventures) that share some scout resources: meetings are held at a common Scout Hut, surrounding area, storage space and in some cases adult leaders work with more than one unit.
